Your hunger game

Does the idea of feeling hungry make you uncomfortable?

As I go about my life I notice billboards, advertisements, signs in restaurants, food packets that:

(1) encouraging you to dislike being hungry

(2) encouraging you to eat more

The outside world is trying to control what and how much you put in your mouth.

Tell me what does the outside world know about your goals, your body and the size of your stomach?

Do you know your goals, your body’s needs and the size of your stomach?

Because if you don’t – industry will shape you.  It’s that simple.  You’ll be controlled by every one else, you’ll lose at the hunger game.

Two weeks ago I visited my 91 year old Grandfather who lives on the Suffolk coast and I was struck by his good eating habits.  These are:

– he respects food and meal times

– he’s not afraid of working up an appetite and getting hungry

– he doesn’t snack in between meals

– he takes his time over food

– he has a good appetite

I’m sure his healthy appetite for food gives him a healthy appetite for life.
